The idea for this project came from a longtime friend of the Eames, film director Billy Wilder, who was looking for a chair for relaxation and short breaks. Six pillows together with hinges are attached to the aluminum frame, and two others are flying cushions for maximum comfort. Vitra has produced the Soft Pad program for many decades.
